All too often when doing a peer evaluation, we are completely subjective about what we like about another student's artwork. For this evaluation we will be considering the artwork from a more objective stance, beginning our discussion with the phrase "this piece works because..." encourages the use art vocabulary.
Here is the process to follow...
1. All work should be displayed on the tables with the visual journal work that accompanies that piece displayed alongside.
2. As you view each student's work, you will write down some notes that you can reference when you are randomly expected to contribute a constructive comment on a student's piece. Consider how the process in the journal relates to the product of the final piece, and how their manipulation of the medium may have contributed to the artist's intent.
3. As we share out, the selected student will reference their notes and begin their commentary with "This piece works because...". The artist will then have an opportunity to respond. Then the discussion will open up to the rest of the class for questions and comments about the work.
4. The student artist should reflect on at least one of the comments made about their work and incorporate that into their journal process work.
5. Turn in the notes that you collected with your name on them.
