For this assignment, you will create three self portraits that are at the same time different and similar. They need to connected by a theme and yet approached differently. The following are some ideas...
2. Write out a paragraph that describes the meaning, how they are different, and how they are the same.
All three must be completed works, not sketches.
3. Finally: they must be presented in a unified manner as a grouping or triptych.
4. Student Evaluation: You will be assigned two individuals to critique and choose one that you would like to critique. Give them feedback on what was successful and what did not communicate well. How might you have handled it differently from the theme, to the differentiation, to the display.
- Research portraiture of famous artists or art styles, and imitate three different ones using yourself as the model.
- Take three different views of you and handle them in a similar manner. i.e. changing perspectives, changed cropping, distortion, foreshortened, reflected, etc.
- Use the three images to indicate the passage of time or to tell a story.
